Background
John McCauley's professional experience includes direct involvement in over 15,000 medical malpractice cases and 7,000 automobile cases in his career.
Currently, he is Of Counsel with the Wiseman Ashworth Law Group. Previously, he was Assistant Vice Chancellor and Associate General Counsel for Vanderbilt University from 1996-2011. From 1987-1996 he was Senior Executive Director of Risk Management/Claims Counsel for Charter Medical Corporation. Previously, he served as Director of Risk and Insurance Management for NKC, Inc. (Norton Healthcare) and Corporate Claims Manager for Humana Inc. He is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the Risk & Insurance Management Society, the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, National Health Lawyers Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He was a member of the Board of Directors of American Retirement Corporation and where he chaired the Quality Assurance Committee and also a member of the Board of Directors of America Service Group where he served on the Audit, Ethics and Quality Assurance, and the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committees.
Education/Training
John is a Louis B. Brandeis School of Law graduate of the University of Louisville. He earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics. He is qualified as a Rule 31 mediator by the Tennessee Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution and a founding member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators.John is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Kentucky.
