I generally use facilitative mediation—keeping the parties together as much as possible and encouraging a problem-solving approach. Parties are better able to identify and address all the important issues, not just their financial disputes.

Practice Areas
- Divorce - Employment
- Health Law & Elder Care - Personal Injury
- Professional Liability

Background
For most of my professional life I have been a medical school professor, focusing on law and bioethics. Because I have been based directly in the clinical setting, working with physicians and allied professionals in the context of real patient-care decisions, I have been able to see first-hand the nuances in the issues that arise for patients, families, physicians, nurses, and others in the health care setting. Conflict can arise not just between patients and providers, but in any area of the health care delivery system that now requires intense interdependence among professionals previously accustomed to substantial independence. A solid grasp of that context and its communication complexities helps greatly for eliciting, as a mediator, the interests and concerns that underlie disputes—not just in health care, but more broadly in other settings as well. I am also an attorney, providing legal services in diverse cases for Memphis Areal Legal Services, and an active mediator.

Education/Training
Dr. Morreim is Rule 31 listed for both civil and family mediation, with well over 100 hours of continuing mediation education.
